‘Chunar’ performance leaves composer Jigar Sariya teary-eyed on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa

MUMBAI: Zee TV’s - ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ - is back with a fresh season along with an all-new panel of mentors and some of the finest new voices of India for this season of Nayi Aawaaz, Naya Andaaz. Along with some talented contestants, this new season of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa also marks the reality TV debut of popular composers and Gujju brothers Sachin-Jigar, who will be seen as mentors alongside the dynamic music composer and lyricist duo – Sachet-Parampara, and popular music composer, singer, and songwriter Guru Randhawa, while Vipul Roy will be the host.

While every participant from across the country is auditioning for a spot in the top twelve by giving their best to impress the judges with their famous songs, it seems that each song holds a special place in the hearts of our mentors. In the audition rounds, all the mentors were seen relishing memories of songs that they cherished. In fact, when one contestant performed to Chunar from ABCD 2, Jigar couldn’t hold back his tears. As soon as the song began, it brought back a flood of bittersweet memories that Jigar sat silently for a moment after the song was over, his eyes glistening as he tried to compose himself. It was clear that the song had touched a deep and personal chord, taking him back to a time of joy and sorrow. His voice cracked when he finally spoke, revealing that the performance reminded him of moments he thought were long buried.

Talking about the same Jigar said, “I have a bittersweet relationship with the song ‘Chunar.’ It’s one of the closest songs to my heart, but I can’t listen to it without getting emotional. Whenever Sachin plays it in front of me, I put on earplugs just to avoid hearing it. Originally, this song was created for Navaratri, but when we played it for Remo (D’Souza), he loved it. The rest, as they say, is history. But for me, this song carries memories too heavy to bear. Every note, every word, reminds me of moments I wish I could relive and some I wish I could forget. It’s a beautiful reminder of love, loss, and everything in between, hence these emotions.”

While all the mentors have a special memory of each of their songs, Jigar’s heartfelt story touched everyone’s heart during the shoot. However, selecting the best among the best for the upcoming season of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa will undoubtedly pose a challenging task for the mentors!

So, stay tuned as Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’s new season is all set to premiere on 14th September and air every Saturday-Sunday at 9 pm, only on Zee TV!
