In an exclusive conversation with TellyChakkar the ace director shared her happiness on the movie being nominated for Oscars and also spoke about the chances she feels of winning the award.

How happy are you about Laapataa Ladies becoming India's official Oscar entry?

We are beyond thrilled and honoured that our film Laapataa Ladies has been chosen as India’s official entry for the Oscars. It has been a team effort making this and I am thankful to all our stakeholders and team members for being on this journey with us. It’s a testament to the incredible work of our entire team, who have put their heart and soul into telling this story.

How do you see your chances of winning as the last time India bagged an Oscar nomination in the 'Foreign Film' category was for Lagaan, and again, Aamir Khan was the producer then as he's now?

I think it would be unnatural if we did not hope for the best! We are proud of the film we made, so we are optimistic. What we are cognisant of is the fact that this is not just our journey, but also that of our country, so every step we take I that much more precious. To have Aamir, AKP  and Jio Studios  with Laapataa Ladies feels incredibly special, because the collective knowledge and resources only stands to help us on this process. Our focus remains on the story we’ve told, and how it resonates with people.
