MUMBAI: A day before its highly anticipated premiere on Prime Video, Pushing Buttons Studios hosted a special screening of Indo-French coming-of-age drama, Girls Will Be Girls. The award-winning film, which has garnered critical acclaim on the global festival circuit, marks the feature directorial debut of Shuchi Talati. It also introduces debutants Preeti Panigrahi and Kesav Binoy Kiron in lead roles, alongside acclaimed actress Kani Kusruti in a pivotal performance.
The exclusive screening was graced by co-producer Richa Chadha and executive producer Ali Fazal, who shared fascinating behind-the-scenes insights into the making of the film. Joining them were lead actors Preeti Panigrahi, and Kesav Binoy Kiron, along with Divya Dutta, Dia Mirza, Vijay Verma , Aditi Rao Hydari, Bhuvan Bam, Shweta Tripathi, SlowCheeta, Konkona Sen Sharma, Rasika Dugal, Gulshan Devaiah, Sayani Gupta, Gurmmeet Singh, Arunoday Singh and other distinguished guests from the film fraternity.
Having earned accolades at prestigious festivals such as Sundance, TIFF, and Cannes—including the coveted Audience Award at Sundance—Girls Will Be Girls has been celebrated worldwide. The film follows 18-year-old Mira as she navigates the challenges of rebellion, self-discovery, and emotional upheaval, which echo her mother’s own unresolved coming-of-age experiences.
Produced under the banner of Pushing Buttons Studios, Dolce Vita Films, and Crawling Angel Films by Richa Chadha, Claire Chassagne, and Shuchi Talati, with Ali Fazal as executive producer, Girls Will Be Girls has garnered widespread praise for its compelling narrative and outstanding performances. The film is now streaming exclusively in India on Prime Video in English, Hindi and Malayalam languages.
