MUMBAI: Mumbai Indians edged past Delhi Capitals with a 12-run win at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, snapping Delhi’s four-match winning streak in IPL 2025. The defeat also saw Delhi lose their top spot on the points table, slipping to second place.

As a result of a slow over-rate during the game, DC skipper Axar Patel was penalised by the BCCI. Since it was the team’s first such offence this season, Patel was fined ₹12 lakh under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which addresses over-rate violations.
Chasing a challenging target of 206, Delhi looked firmly in control at 135 for 2 when Karun Nair fell for a blazing 89 off just 40 deliveries. Brought in as an Impact Substitute at 0/1, Nair played a sensational knock in his first IPL appearance in three years. He reached his fifty in only 22 balls, even smashing two sixes in a single over off Jasprit Bumrah.
However, leg-spinner Karn Sharma turned the tide with key breakthroughs, triggering a collapse that saw Delhi bowled out for 193. The 19th over proved decisive—though Ashutosh Sharma found the boundary twice off Bumrah, three successive run-outs on the final three balls of the over sealed the game in Mumbai's favour.
This marked Mumbai Indians’ second win in six matches and a much-needed boost as they look to rebuild momentum in their campaign.
