MUMBAI: Mumbai all-rounder Tanush Kotian has joined with Punjab Kings (PBKS) as a net bowler ahead of their crucial IPL 2025 fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Kotian, who went unsold during the IPL auction earlier this year, was seen bowling to PBKS batters during their training session on Friday, while also holding detailed discussions with spin-bowling coach Sunil Joshi.

His addition is viewed as a strategic move by PBKS, especially with KKR's potent spin attack featuring mystery spinners Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy. Kotian’s way of off-spin is expected to help PBKS's batters fine-tune their skills against unorthodox spin threats.

At 26, Kotian has built a strong reputation in the domestic circuit and was a key figure in Mumbai's Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy victory earlier this season. Although PBKS already boasts quality spinners like Yuzvendra Chahal, Harpreet Brar, and Praveen Dubey, Kotian’s presence brings extra depth and variety to their preparations.

Interestingly, there’s a Mumbai connection to Kotian’s call-up — PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer, who hails from the same city, reportedly played a role in facilitating Kotian’s inclusion, owing to his familiarity with the all-rounder's skillset. Iyer, notably, had led KKR to the IPL 2024 title before switching camps to PBKS.
