Remember the 80’s made South African blockbuster The Gods Must Be Crazy?
Filmmaker MJ Ramanan has reportedly picked up the rights for a remake in Hindi.
It is said that Ramanan has eyed this uproarious film and is set to translate it in Hindi with an update according to Indian norms.
The original film was basically a documentary style comedy about a bunch of native people staying in South Africa whose lives undergo a major change after a soft drink bottle thrown from an aircraft lands in their vicinity. However, it is said that Ramanan would be altering its storyline to some extent.
Said Ramanan in a statement, "South filmmaker Babu has secured the rights to make it in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. I have adapted the script for the Hindi version and will direct as well with Navin Kumar Sharma as my producer.”
“We have set the film in a remote mountainous place in Himachal Pradesh. The soft drink bottle in the original has been replaced with Dawood Ibrahim's cell phone as there is also an underworld touch to the script. Paresh (Rawal) essays a gangster in the film.”
Rumor has it that the beautiful and curvaceous Jacqueline Fernandez will also be seen in a prominent role. Remo D'Souza has also been approached to handle the choreography part.
