24 is an iconic show and who wouldn't want to be a part of it - Anil Kapoor

Anil Kapoor
Anil Kapoor is all set to make his TV debut in India with Colors’ 24, an international format that the actor himself has managed to get here. He is excited more than nervous to see how his debut vehicle fares on Indian television. Anil who plays Jai Singh Rathod is someone who is trying to strike a balance between his personal and professional life. And during such a time a challenging event crops up which puts both his personal and professional life at stake. The story begins here as he has to fight back in 24 hours for his family and his country. To know more about his character and his debut on television we spoke to the actor. What are the challenges that you had to face while making this show? “The challenge was to get the same kind of aesthetics and performances because every episode shot in the international format cost 4 to 6 million dollars. We do not get the same kind of money here, but even then we had to raise the bar. So it had to be as effective as the original but in lesser time and money. We are lot more motivated and have put our best foot forward to achieve something that we all will be proud of.” Talking about his involvement he averred, “My involvement was in getting the right people on the show. I did not want geniuses, but simply wanted good and hard working people.” When asked if it was difficult to get big names like Anupam Kher and Shabana Azmi he stated, “Anupam and Shabana did not blink an eyelid when I asked them to be a part of the show. 24 is an iconic show, and who wouldn’t want to be a part of it.” Is the actor happy with the outcome? “Yes, I am. In fact I have never enjoyed working so much in 36 years. Neither have I been so charged, rejuvenated and excited in my career so far.” So, is the actor nervous about it? “I feel nervous when I do a No Entry or Race 2 as it’s the regular. And when I take up such films I find it difficult to face my children and wife. At times they ask me to stop as they feel if I keep doing such movies then I will stop getting better work. So, things that are commercial make me nervous. But at the same time all the possibilities of me failing miserably or me being laughed at are welcomed by me.” On Mr Bachchan making his debut on a fiction show he commented, “It makes me very happy and his coming on a show makes my stand of coming on TV even stronger.” This show will most likely air sometime in October this year (2013).
