DJ Anshul talks about his "groovy" mash-ups in Grand Masti

After rocking Kolkata for 10 years, the master of mixing songs, DJ Anshul (Makhija) shifted work base to the maximum city- Mumbai last year to make the crowds here sway to his tunes. And seems his dream is finally coming true, with his mash up of the upcoming film Grand Masti becoming the talk of the town. Talking about it the young DJ says, “The producer of the film, Ashok Thakeria has been my Godfather who gave me this opportunity. His faith and support helped me to bring out my talent. The title track and the mash up of the album have been done by me, and it is an awesome club mix.” When we quizzed him on the trend of mash ups, he smiles, “It is of course a great way to promote the album and attract people, but when it comes to playing in the club, we prefer playing entire tracks.” And how has been the journey in Mumbai, we ask him. “Well, it has been great. On one hand I was rocking my city, and here I had to start all over again. But never mind I am enjoying the journey and if I have people like Ashok around who have faith in me, I will soon take Mumbai on a spin too,” he quips. And has he found changes in the working pattern of both cities? “A lot, but then I also realised that I cannot change this fact, so I made changes to my working style. And it worked,” he laughs.
