If the face and voice of Sugandha Mishra in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa looks familiar, you are not mistaken. She is a reality show veteran having wowed audiences with her performances in Great Indian Laughter Challenge, Chote Miyan Bade Miyan, Comedy Circus among others. The pretty girl from Jalandhar has a near-perfect voice. “I have always been a big fan of the show and to participate in it is a great feat in itself for me. When this season of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa was announced, I went along with one of my friends for the audition. At that time, my family was not aware of my participation. Only after I cleared the initial round did I call up my family and tell them about this,” recalls Sugandha. Understandably, Sugandha is very happy about her progress in the show. “I am very proud to be in Vishal-Shekhar’s gharana . This time there are some really talented and versatile singers in the show,” says the singer. Passionate about classical music, Sugandha started her training at the tender age of four from her grandfather Pt. Shankar Lal Mishra. Sugandha's dad Santosh Mishra and uncle are also famous musicians in Punjab. Expectedly, that helped. “Coming from a musical family, I was always inclined to make a career in music. No matter what I did, my love for music came out. Even when I participated in the fourth season of Great Indian Laughter Challenge, I mostly did musical comedy,” says the singer who did a good job in mimicking singers like Lata Mangeshkar. So is she confident about her performance and victory in the show? “I am quite hard-working and my strongest point is the training I got from my grandfather. In the coming episode I have sung a classical number and got a standing ovation from the judges. It felt quite nice,” admits Sugandha with her by-now famous smile. So will stand up comedy take a backseat now? “Yes, for the moment! I am enjoying every moment of the show. We are all staying in a house, waking up early morning doing our riyaz and going for shoots. It is great fun,” she signs off.
