With the release of every big film, a lot of hype is created around it. Similar is the case of Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Boss that has already become the talk of the town after the release of its trailer.
Now, with the impending release date of the film-16 October, it’s come to light that Krian Media Ltd that had earlier distributed Viacom 18’s G.I Joe in India has bagged the International distribution rights of the film.
The movie, produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures will release in over 400 screens worldwide including Europe, North America, South East Asia and Australia among other countries.
The release of Boss will mark Krian Media’s second affiliation with Viacom 18. Commented Raj Malik, vice president, film acquisition and distribution, Krian Media, “It is no secret that with the explosion of India internationally, Indian cinema has also been breaking newer barriers and crossing over to many more international markets. Likewise International cinema has also been increasingly making its presence felt at the Indian Box office and we at Krian Media endeavour to become the ideal channel of choice for both the above.”
Observed associate vice president, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, Neeraj Goswamy, “In this context, the Boss deal is significant to us not just because it is our first acquisition of a mainstream big budget Bollywood movie, but it is also the first movie that we would be distributing globally and not just in the US markets.”
We have had a great experience working with Krian Media Ltd. for G.I. Joe. Their knowhow of the latest technology and their vast distribution spread makes them an ideal partner for us and hence we had absolutely no hesitation in aligning with them for the ‘Boss’ release in international markets.”
Apart from this Akshay Kumar and Aditi Rao Hydari-starrer, the distribution house has also acquired two Tollywood and two Mollywood films for USA distribution.Of the two, it has already released a Malyalam film. Krian has recently acquired A.R. Murugadoss and Fox Star Studios Raja Rani for a pan USA release.
