Talented TV actor Varun Badola is quite excited about his film Micky Virus which released this week.
Talking about his cop character, Varun who was last seen (in a full series) Zee TV’s Phir Subah Hogi says, “Devender Bhalla is an honest inspector who seems at sea in cases which involve online elements. His senior (Manish Choudhary) then brings in Micky (Manish Paul) who is a hacker to help nab the culprits. Bhalla does not know what is happening, for cyber cell cases are quite distinct from routine police work. He also feels his day is not complete till he thrashes someone in the police lock, all this does not happen in the virtual world.”
When asked as to why he accepted this role, Varun states, “This character offered me enough scope to experiment. Director Saurabh Varma was not only receptive to new ideas but also gave me a free hand to do my own thing.”
Since the lead actor Manish is also a TV face, did it make things easier on set? “Although Manish and I have not worked together before, we know each other for a long time. Hence I did not need to break the ice so as to say”, avers Varun who has also done hit shows such as Koshish, Astitva...Ek Prem Kahani and Aek Chabhi Hai Pados Mein etc.
With more and more small screen actors (Sushant Singh Rajput and Amit Sadh etc) successfully crossing over to films, Varun is now hopeful that the earlier distinction between TV and film artists would soon be a thing of the past. “I am looking forward to a set up where an actor does both (TV and films) at the same time, as it happens worldwide. It is only out here in India, that film makers shy away from taking talented television actors and rather take fresh faces for celluloid offerings.” Prior to Micky Virus, Varun has done other films such as Haasil and Main Meri Patni Aur Who etc.
In closing, Varun who might soon do a project for Star Plus did not pay much attention to the fact that he was not a part of the film promotions just like lead actress Elli Avram who is still in the Bigg Boss house. “It really does not matter who gets promoted and who does not, for finally the entire film will be screened and not just the edited portion of the actors who were part of the promotion drive. What is more important is that we create a buzz around the film which has been done.”
“Having said this, promotions do help a film’s collections for the first weekend only. Beyond that word of mouth holds the edge. So you need to deliver a good product and that’s what matters,” ended Varun.
Wish you all the very best Varun!!!
