Isn’t it a matter of prestige and extreme joy when renowned film celebrities come to inaugurate big event?
The same must be the case with the organisers of the 6th Bengaluru International Film Festival when the renowned cine actor Kamal Haasan inaugurated the festival that marked the arrival of the magical week for cinema lovers and movie buffs.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah accompanied Haasan in the inauguration process while the inaugural was presided over by Dinesh Gundu Rao, Minister of State for food and civil supplies.
The inauguration at the Jnana Jyothi Auditorium at the Central college campus started with a melodious rendition of Saraswati Vandana by Smt Poornima Kulkarni followed by a cultural dance performance.
The guests of honour of the event were renowned Iranian cine director, Pouran Derakh¬shandeh and the festival director of Hof Film festival, Germany Heinz Georg Badewitz.
The opening film of the festival was Bekas by Karzan Kader while The Rocket by Kim Mordaunt will close the festival.
The festival that is scheduled to run up to 2 January, 2014 will showcase 152 films from 45 countries, with Country Focus on Taiwan and Germany.
