Mithun Chakraborty gets a Rajya Sabha nomination from West Bengal

Mithun Chakraborty
If all goes well, Mithun Chakraborty will soon have a new official address in Delhi and a new designation will be etched against his name that of a Rajya Sabha MP. Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee has nominated the veteran actor as Trinamool Congress’ candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in the state. The actor will be among the five Rajya Sabha members to be elected from the state. Revealing her decision, Mamta wrote on her social networking page: “In our state, five Rajya Sabha members will be elected this time. One of these seats will be given to Mithun Chakraborty from All India Trinamool Congress.” Praising Mithun for his achievements, Mamta wrote,” Shri Chakraborty is a well-known film personality. He has devoted his life to the cause of cultural and social activities with great success. He is an asset not only for West Bengal, but also to the entire country. We are proud to nominate him.” Mithun has shared excellent relation with Mamta Banerjee and it seem the legendary actor known for his nimble dance moves has been amply rewarded in kind by the Chief Minister. In a sparkling career spanning over four decades, Mithun has won three national and multiple state awards for his significant contribution to films.
