Often our Tellywood stars say no to films for lack of meaty roles. However, actor Kunal Kumar of The Great Indian Comedy Show fame, isn't the one to crib over such things but makes use of every opportunity that comes his way. Kunal, who's acted in films like Main Hoon Naa and Namaste London , is all excited about his film Kaisay Kahein that will hit the screens very soon.. "I'm looking forward to the release of Kaisay Kahein. This is my first film as a second lead actor. It's a story of two friends, Rajveer Dutt and me. How they both fell in love and later struggle to balance their professional and personal lives. Chavvi Mittal plays my better half," said Kunal. It seems that Bollywood has opened its door for Kunal big time. The actor has three more films up his sleeves - Let's Party, Hum Phir Mile Na Mile and Ashtavinayak's untitled new venture. "I left Delhi and came to Mumbai to work. I've always looked at doing character roles. The length of a role has never mattered to me. I got just five minute footage in Namaste London, but my character was widely appreciated," quips Kunal. He's bagging roles in Bollywood but Kunal certainly hasn't closed the door on television. The actor is doing two daily comedy shows, Ranvir, Vinay aur Kaun and SAB ka Bheja Fry. The latter will commence from 13th August. Apparently, the two shows will be competing against each other at prime time. Thus there's every possibility that the audience may get divided. However, Kunal isn't perturbed over it. "That's for them to decide. But personally, I have high hopes from SAB ka.. as it's a refreshing concept. There's no spoofing and so it gives us the chance to enact new and original characters. One of the characters that I play is Feroze Faltu, who thinks he's a don but no one care two hoots about him" enunciates Kunal. His acting has won him many admirers but not many are aware that Kunal has emerged as a successful director as well. He's directed eight short films, few of which have received international acclamation. His film Let's smile won British Council's award for best short film. Timeless Life won the best short film award at the New York film festival and Seagate technical awards. Direction as a full-time job is his desired goal, but the 27-year-old is taking each step as it comes. "Be it any profession, you have to start from the bottom. I'm very much at this stage now" remarked the actor. Well, he may or may not achieve his goals but Kunal Kumar certainly has learned the tricks of survival in this overtly competitive industry.
