Recently a tabloid reported that actor Amit Varma will be a part of the celluloid version of Hats Off’s popular show Khichdi. But the actor denies being a part of the project. The shooting of the film kept getting delayed for unavoidable reasons. And now that the film is set to go on the floors anytime soon the important character Raju Parekh played by Amit will not be a part of its cast.
Says Amit, “The show has been immensely popular amongst the viewers and every character got due importance. I would have loved to be a part of the film but I have not yet been approached by the production house. Films are a little different from soaps as they run for a maximum of two to three hours and you can’t focus on all the characters.”
When contacted, co-producer Aatish Kapadia said, “Sometimes there is a possibility of having or not having a character. As of now it’s not decided but if we plan to incorporate the character, it would be played only by the original actor Amit.”
Amit elaborates, “Baa Bahoo Aur Baby is keeping me busy currently and I want to concentrate on one character at a time so that I can do justice to it. As far as Bollywood is concerned, there is nothing concrete as yet and all I can say is that talks for a film are on. In the current scenario, I don’t see me doing the film Khichdi even if I am offered as I would not have enough time.”
We will surely miss the talented actor on the silver screen.
