With hacks searching for the face that will be destined to represent Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, there are parallel rumours of how this fray is a hoax created for the TRP's to rise, a publicity stunt that the press has fallen for! The claim gained strength after Smriti Irani and Padmini Kolhapure voiced out in the press that Smriti was not planning to quit the show and Padmini was joining the show but may not be as Tulsi quoting that nothing was still finalised. On the other hand Smriti accused the scribes of deciding on her behalf. Well, come June and all questions will answer themselves.
At Telly Chakkar we spoke to a supposed contender of 'Kyunki Smriti Bhi kabhi Tulsi Thi' notoriety. She was known as the black sheep and the oddball that couldn't seem to fit the Kyunki jigsaw: Gautami Gadgil Kapoor. Her voice sounds like the cool breeze as she asserts, "On the Kyunki front we never finalised anything."
We quizzed her if she was a regular viewer of Kyunki? "Frankly, I have watched little of the show, as actors we generally have little time to catch up with the happenings!" My silence on the other side which is also a 'jaw dropped' reaction to her 'not knowing the territory she is venturing into', she covers up stating, "But hats off to the production house, the writers and actors who have kept the show rolling for seven years. My mom is glued to Kyunki ever since the soap started and she hasn't lost interest even today. People might say good or bad things about the show say but they still diligently watch it."
Our conversation veers to Ram Kapoor who is supporting her and coaxing Ekta to sign her in. Gautami refuses to comment and says that influences do not really work. After the lump in the throat is cleared, I quiz her on whether she watchesKasam Se and her voice jumps with enthusiasm, "I watch it with great regularity. I love the characters Jai (played by her hubby dear) and Bani.' And quickly confides, "Primarily I like to watch Ram's work, I feel guilty if I miss an episode!
With daughter Siya in tow and time on her hands, is she planning to take up new shows on TV, "Well, I will do only one show, as my daughter is quite a handful, she keeps me busy and I enjoy dedicating my time to her." When a mommy says that, I am always spell bound!
Kyunki or no Kyunki - Gautami made her mark in Ghar Ek Sapna and can do it again, however with a fresh show.
