Bhaangarh - A movie on India's most haunted place

Bhaangarh
While horror movies are available dime a dozen in Bollywood, not a single one revolves around Bhaangarh in Rajasthan- officially acknowledged as the most haunted place in India. This is the only place in the country where you are prohibited from entering before sunrise and after sunset. The archaeological department of India has put a signboard to that effect to warn tourists. Myths surrounding Bhaangarh abound in plenty. While no one knows what exactly plagues the cursed place, it is believed that people visiting and staying there before sunrise and after sunset will either never return back or if they do some great peril will befall on them sooner or later. Director Dilip Sood has attempted to spin a fictitious horror story surrounding the legend of Bhaangarh and has also named his movie as Bhaangarh. What's spookier though is that the cast and crew even shot at the very place for a few days. Talking about why he chose to make a movie on Bhaangarh, Dilip said, "I wanted to make a psychological thriller in broad daylight. Most of our horror movies unfold at night. I wanted to do something different. I want to catch my audience unaware. And that is why we zeroed in on Bhaangrah as my subject." Although fictitious, Bhaangarh the movie is loosely inspired from a legend surrounding the place. "Our story is loosely inspired from a legend that we have heard about Bhaangarh. There is no scientific reason as to why all these things happen. But it's considered to be the most haunted place in India and 2nd most haunted in the entire world." The movie revolves around six youngsters who go on a trip to Bhaangarh. Here they encounter some strange happenings which turn their lives topsy turvy. The movie will see fresh faces playing the lead roles. While the mixture of sex and horror have given some recent movies like Ragini MMS 2 unexpected success, Dilip's movie will see no such sexual drama. "I am incapable of directing sex based movies. My movie has no sex. There is a slight love making scene but nothing over the top. So sex content is really minimal in Bhaangarh," averred Dilip. Bhaangarh is slated to release in September this year.
