By signing me to play Samrat, Pearl (Grey) has given me a new life - Mohit Malik

Mohit Malik’s portrayal of the aggressive Samrat Singh Rathore in Zee TV’s Doli Armaanon Ki (Spellbound Productions) has been receiving a lot of flak of late for being the woman-beater on the show. Says Mohit, “I have got lot of hate mails of late, and viewers have been reacting harshly to the manner in which Samrat has behaved with his wife. In a way, the response has flattered me, as it shows they have accepted me in the avatar I portray. Fans want Samrat to mellow down and even develop love for Urmi (Neha Marda), but I hope the day does not come fast, as it will dilute the character to an extent.” Mohit, who bagged an award for the Best Negative lead – Male for his portrayal of Samrat at the recently held Gold Awards, is excited and wants to take time out to thank his Producer Pearl Grey for choosing him for the prized role. “Pearl has given me a new life, is what I can say. She first gave me the character of Abhimanyu in Mann Ki Awaaz Pratigya, and I got appreciated for the work. This role revealed to many that I could perform such rustic hard-hitting characters. And now, with Samrat she has changed my life forever. The amount of satisfaction I get as an actor for playing Samrat cannot be measured in words. All the credit goes to Pearl for unearthing the actor in me, and providing me with two challenging roles. She is a very talented lady, and knows how to bring out the best from an actor.” “I hope to please and entertain audiences to the maximum as Samrat in the near future,” states Mohit before bidding adieu. Mohit, must say, great effort put in to play the character.
