MUMBAI: Aroma Mani, formerly known as M. Mani, passed away at the age of 65 on July 14. The popular news portal reported that the well-known Indian film producer and director passed away at his Kunnukuzhi home.
Mani produced almost 60 screenplays in addition to directing seven films, making a significant mark on Indian cinema. His works were released under the banners of Sunita Production and Aroma Movie International.
Mani passed away on Sunday at around 2:30 pm, according to the popular TV news. His family members said that he suffered from age-related illnesses. On Monday, Mani's body will be kept at Bharat Bhavan so that people can pay their respects.
Later in the afternoon, at his Aruvikkara farm, there will be a funeral. Prominent politicians sent their sympathies, including Leader of the Opposition V D Satheesan and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Mani was celebrated for his numerous Malayalam films, including hits like Dhruvam, Irupatham Noottandu, and Oru CBI Diary Kurippu. He began his production career in 1977 with Dheere Sameera Yamuna Theere, and his last produced film was Artist, directed by Shyamaprasad in 2013, starring Fahadh Faasil. For over four decades, Mani was a dominant figure in the Malayalam film industry, producing many super-hit movies. His influence extended to the Tamil film industry as well.
Thinkalazhcha Nalla Divasam (1985), one of his well-known films, won the National Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam for its exploration of family dynamics in a rural area under threat from urban culture. A different movie, Doore Doore Oru Koodu Koottam, which was directed by Sibi Malayil and produced by Mani, took home the National Prize for Best Film on Other Social Issues.
In the Indian cinema industry, Aroma Mani, the man behind numerous acclaimed and massively successful films of the 1980s and 1990s, will always be remembered.
His profound contribution to Malayalam cinema has created an enduring impression, guaranteeing that future generations will honor and remember his contributions.
