MUMBAI : Vijay Babu started out by working in Star India and went on to work in Dubai. After stints in Asianet, Sitara TV, and Surya TV (as the vice president), Vijay entered the world of cinema. Success came quickly for the relatively new actor and he won the Kerala State Film Award for ‘Best Children's Film’ for Philips and the Monkey Pen. Vijay is also the co-founder of the production house Friday Film House along with filmmaker Sandra Thomas.
He has been booked in a sexual assault case. His former colleague had accused him of sexual misconduct, following which police had registered a case against him in April. As per the latest update, the actor's passport was impounded.
A tweet by ANI read, "Actor Vijay Babu's passport was impounded y'day. All visas issued on his passport now stand invalid. There are indications that he has entered another country. We have a court warrant against him: CH Nagaraju, Kochi City Police Commissioner Babu is booked in a sexual assault case."

Another tweet by the agency read, "Babu told the passport officer that he would present himself at the office on 24th May. Failure to do so will result in a Red Corner Notice against him. Till now, no response received from Interpol or UAE police: CH Nagaraju, Kochi City Police Commissioner on actor Vijay Babu."
Vijay Babu is reportedly hiding in a Middle Eastern location, suspected to be Dubai.
The report also stated that the Kerala police was planning to arrest the actor from Dubai with the help of the Interpol immediately after the cancellation of his passport and visa. The actor might have now fled to another place from Dubai.
Previously, the complaint filed against the actor said that Vijay Babu had committed the offence on the pretext of offering his former colleague roles in movies.
Following the allegations, Vijay took to social media to clarify his stance on the matter. However, he revealed the name of the survivor, after which the police filed another case against him.
Meanwhile, the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) recently announced its decision to remove actor-producer Vijay Babu, who has been accused of raping an actress, from its executive committee, pending inquiry in the case registered against him by the police.
