MUMBAI: Lokesh Kanagaraj has become one of the most favorite directors, coming from South Indian cinema. The director has made a Lokesh Kanagaraj Universe aka LCU and with movies like Kaithi, Vikram and Leo (which are all a part of the LCU) he has left the audience with a desire to want more.

Kaithi, the 2019 movie stars Karthi, Arjun Das, George Maryan and Narain. Later, in 2022 came Vikram, starring Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Arjun DasShivani Narayanan and Jaffar Sadiq. The movie was a sequel and a very successful one indeed. With a sequel like Vikram, the bar was raised high but what really got the audience curious and excited at the same time was the post-credit scene of the movie with the introduction of Suriya’s character, Rolex.

The aggression, power, wildness seen in the character was impressive and most importantly, seeing Suriya in such a negative character, it really pressed the right buttons of the viewers, making them all eager for the next release.

However, we did not get to see Rolex again. In 2023, the third installment Leo, starring Thalapathy Vijay, Trisha Krishnan, Madonna Sebastian, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Anurag Kashyap and Priya Anand. The movie was surely loved but was also considered the weakest of the franchise.

Now once again, making his fans excited, Lokesh Kanagaraj has given us a major update with regards to a movie based on Rolex. Recently, according to Pinkvilla, the director confirmed plans for a standalone movie based on Rolex starring Suriya. He revealed that after finishing the Rajinikanth starrer Coolie, he is aiming to make a major LCU film where all the LCU characters will be featured.

The Vikram director also revealed that he will be focusing on LCU movies for the next five years and hinted at a possible sequel to Leo, titled Parthiban, which is not certain as Thalapathy Vijay is nearing his retirement from acting.
