MUMBAI : Manjummel Boys makers have been embroiled in a controversy after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out an investigation against them, reportedly for money laundering. The ED allegedly questioned  Shawn Antony who is one of the producers of the movie. After he did not respond, the ED is all set to give another notice to the filmmaker. Even star Soubin Shahir who has also produced the film will be questioned.

The film created an uproar at the box office post its release and gave a cinematic experience to the fans. It has also uplifted Malayalam films and has made moviemakers realise that south movies have been giving good content. As per a News18 report, the movie minted Rs 200 crore globally, which is a huge success for the movie makers in the Malayalam film line. It was also one of the highest-grossers.

After tasting success, Manjummel Boys makers have landed in a soup, after a money laundering case has been filed against them. Siraj Valiyathara Hameed who is the investor allegedly accused the makers of cheating as well as money laundering. Reportedly, the ED first sent the notice to Parava Films' which is the production company. The notice was sent to the founders Soubin Shahir, Babu Shahir and Shawn Antony. The complaint states that the producers of the film had promised Siraj 40% of the profit in return for investing in the movie. While the film reportedly minted Rs 200 crore, the makers did not complete the promise which led to the investor filing a cheating case.
