MUMBAI :Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2 starring Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, and Trisha is all set to release on 28th April 2023. The movie is a sequel to Ponniyin Selvan 1 which was released last year. Ponniyin Selvan is a Tamil franchise, but the makers have dubbed and released it in various languages including Hindi.

While it did exceptionally well in the Tamil language, in Hindi it just got a very decent response with a collection of Rs. 25.12 crore. It started on a low note but showed growth after the positive reviews and word of mouth.

Now, the sequel is slated to release this week, but before PS 2 hits the big screens, let’s look at how much Hindi dubbed versions of South films collected at the box office this year…

Waltair Veerayya

Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja starrer Waltair Veerayya was the first major Indian movie to release. It was a Telugu movie but was dubbed and released in Hindi as well. In the Hindi market, it proved to be a disaster with the collection of Rs. 1.38 crore.

Dasara

Nani went all out to promote the Hindi version of Dasara. But, the film couldn’t leave a strong mark at the box office in the Hindi belt and collected Rs. 4.67 crore.

Shaakuntalam

Not just in Hindi, Samantha Ruth Prabhu starrer Shaakuntalam became a disaster even in Telugu. The film collected Rs. 1.22 crore in Hindi.

Varisu

Thalapathy Vijay starrers don’t get a great response in Hindi markets, but for the past few years, mostly all his movies are being dubbed and released in Hindi. His last release Varisu was also released in Hindi and it collected Rs. 7.92 crore.
