MUMBAI :Rashmika Mandanna is currently a popular name in the Indian film industry. While she is yet to make a mark in the Hindi film industry, thanks to the pan-India success of Pushpa, the actress has grabbed the attention of the Hindi moviegoers.
Rashmika has been in the industry for around seven years. She started her career in 2016 with the Kannada film Kirik Party which was a hit at the box office. She later starred in Kannada movies like Anjani Putra and Chamak. In 2017, Rashmika got engaged to her Kirik Party co-star Rakshit Shetty, but in 2018 the two decided to part ways.
In 2018, Rashmika made her Telugu debut with Chalo, but it was Geetha Govindam that gave her career a boost in Telugu cinema. The movie starred Vijay Deverakonda and since then there have been rumours that Vijay and Rashmika are dating.
Rashmika starred in back-to-back successful films in Telugu like Sarileru Neekevvaru, Bheeshma, and Pushpa: The Rise. But, her Tamil debut Sulthan received a lukewarm response and Telugu movie Aadavallu Meeku Johaarlu was a flop. But, she again bounced back with a hit like Sita Ramam in which she had a supporting role.
Well, Rashmika does have hits in her kitty, but we can’t give her credit for those movies as apart from a few scenes and a couple of songs, she didn’t have much to do it in.
When it comes to Bollywood, the actress’ career has failed to take a flying start because her first Hindi film Goodbye became a disaster at the box office. Even Mission Majnu, which had got an OTT release, didn’t get a great response. Her Tamil film Varisu, though it received a good response at the box office, was panned by critics.
Rashmika has a good line up of films like Animal, Pushpa 2: The Rule, Venky Kudumula’s next, and Rainbow. All eyes are on Rainbow as it is her first woman-centric film, so it will be interesting to see whether she will be able to get the audiences to the theatre or not.
