O Maara blazes a trail: Thug Life anthem unleashed with No Rules, No Mercy, Only Maara

O Maara

MUMBAI: Letting loose a sonic storm, the latest track from Kamal Haasan’s explosive gangster saga Thug Life has dropped like a war cry. Titled 'O Maara' the high-octane anthem is a pounding, unapologetic ode to chaos, thundering  with the tagline that says it all: No rules. No mercy. Only Maara.

Composed by the Oscar-winning maestro A R Rahman, penned with razor-edged grit by the HC Team and rendered  with fierce intensity by singer Nitesh Aher, “O Maara” is picturised on none other than Silambarasan TR, whose raw charisma ignites every frame. The visuals are drenched in cinematic swagger—ruthless streets, fiery standoffs, and the kind of rebellion that can’t be contained by law or morality.

A few days ago audio launch of Thug Life unfolded in a star-studded spectacle in Chennai, where A R Rahman spoke about his journey of creating music for the film. Right after, the Thug Life album is already dominating the music charts. Tracks like 'Jinguchaa' and 'Sugar Baby' are tearing through streaming platforms with infectious beats and visual flair— and following them 'O Maara' is set to roar the spirit of rebellion.

Singer Nitesh Aher said, “When I first heard the scratch of 'O Maara', I felt like I was being invited to create history. A R Rahman sir's brilliance, Kamal sir’s vision, Silambarasan TR’s screen energy, and the HC Team’s razor-sharp writing demanded a vocal performance of a lifetime. They needed rage, soul, swagger—every ounce of fire I had. I recorded this track like I was stepping into Maara’s shoes, aware of his defiance. This is the most intense I’ve ever gone in the studio. Here's hoping that the listeners make this song their own.”

Produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International, Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies, R. Mahendran, and Siva Ananth, Thug Life boasts an ensemble cast of stellar performers. Kamal Haasan leads the film as Rangaraaya Sakthivel Naicker, alongside Silambarasan TR, Trisha Krishnan, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Ali Fazal, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf, among others. With Mani Ratnam at the helm and A.R. Rahman's music, Thug Life is all set for a worldwide theatrical release on June 5, 2025. Brace yourself for an electrifying cinematic experience like never before!
