MUMBAI : Much has been speculated about the arrival of South actress Nayanthara’s twin boys with her filmmaker husband Vignesh Shivan last week. The couple who had a lavish wedding in June this year, surprised fans and their well wishers when they announced the arrival of their twin boys through surrogacy.
Sharing a picture of their adorable tiny feet on his social media page, Shivan wrote, “Nayan & Me have become Amma & Appa. We are blessed with Twin Baby Boys. All Our prayers, our ancestors’ blessings combined with all the good manifestations made, have come together in the form of 2 blessed babies for us. Need all your blessings for our Uyir & Ulagam. Life looks brighter & more beautiful. God is double great.”
Following the legalities of surrogacy, the star couple has now submitted an affidavit along with a marriage certificate to the Tamil Nadu health department, which proves that they got their marriage registered about six years ago. The couple went on to claim that the surrogate was a relative of Nayanthara residing in the UAE.
As per the Indian Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, passed in December 2021, a couple must be married for at least five years and the surrogate must be a married relative having a child of her own. Altruistic surrogacy is meant for any infertile Indian couple with husband between the age of 26 and 55 years and wife between the age of 23 and 50 years.
Nayathara has a career spanning over 2 decades and she has worked in around 75 films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages. She will next be seen opposite Shahrukh Khan in Atlee’s upcoming actioner Jawan.
