MUMBAI: Mani Ratnam has always delivered and always impressed the audience. On the other hand, Kamal Haasan has also been impressive, except for that one movie, IYKYK. However, the actor gave an amazing performance in Kalki 2898 AD.
Now, Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan have teamed up for Thug Life and we must say, the hype was real but is it as good as it was promised? Let’s see.
Starting with a storyline, which was close to impressive, something unique and almost captivating. Yes, the screenplay was good enough to keep us all hooked. The writers (Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam), have truly done their best in creating a story that touches the heart.
Kamal Haasan and Trisha Krishnan’s chemistry is strong and keeping in mind the age gap shown is also a unique point. On the other hand, Ali Fazal and Rohit Saraf were two actors who had a unique appearance but needed more screen time. Other actors like Silambarasan TR, Ravi Mohan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Abhirami have given quite impressive performances and played some really pivotal parts.
Sanya Malhotra is present in the movie for what she does the best – her dancing skills. This brings us to the movie’s best part – The music. AR Rehman never fails to deliver and even here, he has impressed us all. The BGM here is one of the main reasons that kept us hooked.
All-in-all, with a story that could have been more expressive with depth, the movie keeps us engaged due to its powerful music, some unique cameos, strong chemistry and great action.
Tellychakkar gives this movie 3.5/5 stars.
