Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups starring Yash Breaks Barriers with a Bilingual Cinematic Spectacle

MUMBAI: A groundbreaking cinematic venture, Toxic is the first large-scale Indian film to be conceptualised, written, and filmed in both English and Kannada, paving the way for a truly global experience. It will also be dubbed in multiple Indian and international languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam.
Starring Rocking Star Yash and helmed by internationally acclaimed filmmaker Geetu Mohandas, Toxic aims to redefine cross-cultural storytelling. Kannada captures the nuances for Indian audiences, while English ensures global accessibility, reflecting the filmmakers' commitment to authenticity and inclusivity.
"Our vision for Toxic was to create a narrative that resonates authentically with both Indian and global audiences," says director Geetu Mohandas. "We've meticulously crafted the story in Kannada and English to provide an immersive experience across linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Toxic is a seamless blend of artistic vision and commercial storytelling, designed to transcend borders and connect with hearts worldwide."
Jointly produced by Venkat Narayana under KVN Productions and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Toxic was conceived as a global cinematic spectacle. This vision is further reinforced by its stellar international team. Action sequences are choreographed by JJ Perry, renowned for John Wick and Fast & Furious, while visual effects are handled by BAFTA-winning DNEG, recognised for Dune: Part Two. The decision to film bilingually reflects the filmmakers' commitment to authenticity and a truly international approach.
Last month, on Yash's birthday, the team unveiled a "Birthday Peek," offering a glimpse into the world of Toxic. The teaser, showcasing its grand scale and Hollywood-standard production values, generated significant excitement.
The film's bilingual nature has demanded extensive preparation and an extended shooting schedule. Filming commenced in August 2024, with the team dedicated to crafting an immersive world, bringing together top-tier talent from India and beyond. These elements contribute to Toxic's ambitious scale, making it one of the most expensive Indian productions to date.
Producer Venkat K Narayana emphasised the film’s ambitious scope, stating, "Our goal for Toxic was crystal clear: a film that resonates both in India and globally. From the outset, we had an unwavering belief in this story and its potential. This conviction drove our ‘all-in’ approach to bringing this cinematic experience to life. We embraced the challenge wholeheartedly, confident that Toxic will not only captivate audiences worldwide but also showcase the brilliance of Indian cinema on a global stage."
