MUMBAI : Wednesday morning there was some unsettling news that Kannada actress Divya Spandana has passed away. However these turned out to be nothing but rumors as the actress is alive and doing well, currently in Geneva, Switzerland. A tweet shook the Kannada film industry that claimed she died due to a heart attack.

A certain @johnsoncinepro claimed that Divya Spandana had passed away on the morning of September 6. His tweet read, “Shocking news: Actor Divya Spandan passes away. Dies due to heart attack.”
However a source from a news portal tweeted, “Just spoke to @divyaspandana. She is in Geneva, was sleeping peacefully till calls came in. Whoever the irresponsible person was, who tweeted this and the news organisations that put it out as news flash, shame on you.”
Another journalist shared a picture with the actress from Geneva and tweeted, “Wonderful meeting the very talented and genteel lady @divyaspandana for dinner in Geneva. We talked about many things including our love for Bangalore.”

An angry fan of Spandana tweeted, “Please double-check before sharing any news, especially when it concerns someone's passing. Avoid spreading false information that can cause unnecessary panic or confusion.”
The rumors of the actress’s death likely began as she shares her name with Kannada actor-director Vijay Raghavendra's wife whose name is also Spandana. The latter died while on a vacation in Bangkok.
