MUMBAI: Kantara fame Rishab Shetty criticized OTT platforms for not allowing Kannada films to be released. The actor claimed that the OTT giants' refusal of Kannada films is a "very bad sign" while speaking on Tuesday at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). He also voiced his unhappiness with the organizations.

A popular news portal quoted Rishab Shetty, “OTT platforms are not open to the Kannada film industry. That is a very bad sign. They say there are no subscribers here, they are looking into the matter and thinking. Two production houses were actively working during Corona, Rakshit Shetty’s Paramvah Studios and my Rishab Shetty films, and apart from that, some production houses were also making films, and we are actively doing film festivals, but they are not taking the films.”

The actor from Kantara went on to ask IFFI to assist in getting "recognition to our films." He added, “films which have less exposure in theatres should also get some recognition and they should be taken to OTT platforms.”

Currently, Rishab Shetty is working on Kantara 2, also known as 'Kantara: Chapter 1.' Recently, the first glimpse of the eagerly anticipated film surfaced, featuring Rishab Shetty covered in blood. When discussing Kantara 2 earlier this year, Shetty revealed that the audience actually waited for part 2, and as a result, the film that will come out next is the prequel.

He mentioned, “We are very pleased and thankful to the audience who had shown immense love and support to Kantara and taking the journey ahead, with the blessing of almighty Daiva the film has successfully completed 100 days and I would like to take this opportunity to announce the prequel of Kantara. What you have seen is actually Part 2, Part 1 will come next year.”
