The move comes after Beena levelled serious allegations against Aparna’s husband Sanjith and accused him of abetment to suicide.

Alleging that Aparna, 31, was subjected to mental torture by her husband, Beena reportedly held Sanjith responsible for the actor’s death.

As reported by Manorama News, the actor took the extreme step just minutes after a video call with her mother. During this call, according to Beena, she confided in her mother and expressed that she could no longer bear Sanjith’s mental torture.

“Only Aparna and Sanjith know what happened between them. She phoned me on Friday morning and told me that she was ‘leaving’. Immediately, I contacted Sanjith and asked him to check whether she was safe or not. I directed him to break open the door and stop her from taking any wrong step. But he was not ready to pay heed to my words,” Manorama News quoted Beena as saying.

Beena said that Sanjith found Aparna in her room roughly half an hour following their conversation and contended that if he had swiftly responded to her call by hurrying to the room, he might have been able to prevent Aparna’s death. Beena also stated that their marital life was marred by troubles.

Sanjith, however, told reporters that he was innocent and did not know the reason for his wife’s extreme step, The New Indian Express reported.

Mentioning that they will record Beena’s statement soon, Karamana Inspector PS Sujith told TNIE: “After recording the statement, if we find anything credible with substantial evidence, we will register a case against Sanjith.”

Meanwhile, as per a report by News18 Malayalam, the police indicated in the FIR that Aparna’s decision to take the extreme step was influenced by Sanjith’s alcoholism and family problems.

According to news agency PTI, Aparna Nair was found dead around 7.30 pm on September 1. Police said they were informed about the incident by the private hospital that declared her dead upon arrival.

“We received the information from the hospital and have registered a case for unnatural death,” a police officer said. She is survived by her two children.
