MUMBAI : Actor Vijay, lovingly referred to by his followers as "Thalapathy" Vijay, released a message a few days after declaring his entry into politics and expressed gratitude to everyone for their support. A shift was also shown by the way he addressed his followers and fans: rather than calling them "En Nenjil Kudiyirukkum Rasigaral," he now called them "En Nenjil Kudiyirukkum Thozhargal."

In his declaration, he wrote, “Greetings to all. I profusely thank from the bottom of my heart respected leaders of various political parties, beloved film fraternity friends, affectionate brothers, sisters, and mothers of Tamilnadu, my dearest and always encouraging media friends, last but not the least, my huge pillar of support ‘En Nenjil Kudiyirukkum Thozargal (my followers who live in my heart)’ for wishing me on my new political journey for the welfare and victory of TamilNadu.”

On Friday, Vijay announced the name of Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam, his political party. After his current obligations conclude, he plans to give up movies. He declared that he would pursue politics full-time and that his party would run in the Tamil Nadu assembly election of 2026.

Though his fan group Vijay Makkal Iyakkam has been performing social work for many years, Vijay stated in the lengthy formal statement that political power is necessary to carry out the same tasks in a comprehensive way.

“You all are well aware of the political situation of Tamil Nadu. On one side, we have a dysfunctional administration and corrupt political culture, and on the other, we have divisive politics that aims to divide people along the lines of caste, creed, and religion. Both impede our progress. It is uncontestable truth that people, more so in Tamil Nadu, are longing for a change in a political scenario and want a selfless, honest, secular and talented party to bring about a change,” the statement read.

“Politics is not just another career for me. It is a sacred people’s work. I have been preparing myself for it for a long time. Politics is not a hobby for me. That is my deepest desire. I want to fully involve myself in it,” he continued. Filming for Vijay's upcoming film, GOAT, is underway. In the works for him is Thalapathy 69 as well.
