The director of Dream Girl was asked if his film is based on or influenced by the Hollywood movie Sex Tape during an interview. Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz played the primary leads in the 2014 film. Raaj Shaandilyaa did clarify that the film, starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, is not based on a Hollywood film.
