Opening up to the media, his son, Bappa shared, “He was in the hospital for a large part of last month. But every time I called him, he said he's getting better. On Monday (February 14) he said he wants to go home; he kept saying 'ghar chalo ghar chalo'.
Actress Rani Mukerji, whose mother Krishna Mukherjee was a childhood friend of Bappi Lahiri, has mourned the death of the late veteran music composer, who is popularly called as the 'Disco King', and said that he will always be the most iconic musical personality of Indian cinema.
The duo became a formidable force with their later works "Disco Dancer" (1982), "Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki" and "Dance Dance". Chakraborty was given the moniker of a dancing star, with Lahiri firmly backing him with songs like "I Am A Disco Dancer", "Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Aaja", "Yaad Aa Raha Hai", "Come Closer".
Bappi Lahiri, popular as Disco King of Bollywood, gave some of the immensely hit numbers to the Bollywood industry. His music was popular not just in India but worldwide.
