Veteran actress Hema Malini will inaugurate the ensuing Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) that is scheduled to go underway on 30 January (2013). In this five day celebration of films that will have its curtains down on 3 February, the selected films will be screened on 11 screens at 8 different places in the city. This year, Padma Vibhushan Sharmila Tagore will be accorded with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Seminars and workshops will also be conducted by famous cine personalities

As a mark of respect for the late Balasaheb Thackeray, who died on 17 November, noted actress, danseuse and producer Hema Malini has postponed her annual dance festival Jaya Smriti. "Due to sad demise of Shri B Thackeray, Jaya Smriti on 17 & 18 Nov is postponed. I hope you all who love me will stand by me in this situation," Malini posted on Twitter. The new dates for the music and dance event are yet to be announced. This year, the festival was scheduled to host performances by budding Indian classical dancers, besides workshops on Odissi and Kathak.

“Never in my wildest dream did I think I’d one day be Dr Hema Malini,” says the Dream Girl who will be conferred with a PhD doctorate on Thursday (September 27) at the Singhania University, Udaipur. For Hema, this is a double whammy after the stamp issued by the Norwegian government with her face on it.

Hema Malini was all smiles when her recent trip to Norway turned out to be extra special. The noted danceu had gone to Oslo, the capital city of Norway for a performance the 10th Annual Bollywood Festival. And she couldn’t believe herself when she was called over by the local government for a pleasant surprise.
