Hema Malini was all smiles when her recent trip to Norway turned out to be extra special. The noted danceu had gone to Oslo, the capital city of Norway for a performance the 10th Annual Bollywood Festival. And she couldn’t believe herself when she was called over by the local government for a pleasant surprise.
Hema and her daughters had gone there to present a Bharat Natyam and Odissi performance along with a 15-member troupe from India. But what happened next actually stumped her. She shared, "It was after the performance I was honoured with the stamp." Hema received the honour at the hands of the Norway Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jonas Gahr Store.
"I am proud of being an Indian. This only depicts how rich Indians are in culture and arts," said Hema. Talking of how happy both her daughters were at her being honoured by the Norwegian government, Hema said, "Both my daughters are happy for me. We did not know anything about the stamp. After our performance, the announcement came as a pleasant surprise for the three of us. They are a great source of strength and support and I feel lucky."
"Abhi to meri umar nahin rahi to jump and express my feelings! But I am simply happy to be one of the Indians who has been bestowed with such an honour in a foreign country," she quipped.
