It’s victory time for the Censor Board Of Film Certification (CBFC). Though the producers UTV of Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine have approached the Mumbai High Court to protest against the new policy of a statutory-warning ticker whenever a smoking sequence is shown, the CBFC on Friday, passed the film with an ‘A’ certificate, with a clause that a statutory warning should be displayed in every scene showing Kareena Kapoor smoking in the film.

Madhur Bhandarkar and UTV Motion Pictures’ upcoming Kareena Kapoor-starrer Heroine has run into trouble in the Middle East. The damage has been done by the first promo of the film in which Kareena, accusing the media of holding preconceived notions about actresses, says, "Heroine ne gaadi li toh business man ne gift kiya... aur God forbid Dubai gayi, toh uska rate card ban jaata hai”

The first trailer for Heroine has garnered more than 2 million views since its launch on YouTube. The trailer was launched on 25 July on TV and the internet. Said director Madhur Bhandarkar, “I am overwhelmed by the great response the promo has got. This is just the beginning.” Heroine tells the story of Mahi Arora, played by Kapoor, and depicts the highs and lows in an actress's career.

Word is around film circles that the Censor Board has granted Madhur Bhandarkar's ambitious project Heroine starring Kareena Kapoor an ‘A’ certificate. But folks, there is something to be clarified. Only the film’s promo has got an “A” certificate, not the movie, which is still at the editing table. On the issue, Bhandarkar went on to tweet, “As expected got an 'A' certificate from the Censor Board. Countdown begins for the launch of the poster and promo of <em>Heroine</em>.”
