Ekta Kapoor is all set to remake the 1976-made Rajkumar Kohli- directed Jeetendra, Reena Roy-starrer <Em>Naagin</em>. It is learnt that Balaji Motion Pictures has almost finalized buying the rights from Kohli who also produced the original film. As of now, the production house is busy checking whether any filmmaker has registered the title <em>Naagin</em>.

75-year old actor-filmmaker Manoj Kumar, who recently celebrated his 75th birthday, has been approached by French-Afghan writer Atiq for a contemporary take on the 1961 film Kabuliwala, the big screen adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore’s acclaimed short story by the same name. “Mr Rahimi wants me to act in the movie which will have the same script but will be set in the Afghanistan of today,” the veteran observes.

After Arjun Rampal’s denial, Amit Mehra, the producer of the remake of the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Zanjeer, Sonu Sood has been approached once again for playing the iconic role of Sher Khan in the film. Confirming that he has been approached for the role, Sonu said, "Yes I have been approached for the role of Sher Khan. But nothing has been finalised yet. I have not confirmed the project on paper yet," Sonu told us. It may be remembered that Pran had given a memorable performance as Sher Khan in Prakash Mehra's 1973 hit <em>Zanjeer</em>.

To cash on the box-office success of South remakes in Bollywood, Tips Industries has purchased the rights of three hit Telugu films namely <em>Arya, Souryam</em> and <em>Don Seenu</em>. Confirming the same Ramesh Taurani said, “We have bought the rights of three films, <em>Souryam</em> (2008), <em>Don Seenu</em> (2010) and <em>Arya</em> (2004).”

After a lot of speculation, it is final that Akshay Kumar would team up with A R Murugadoss for the official remake of his film <em>Thuppakki</em>. The original is currently being shot with Tamil star Vijay and Kajal Agrawal. The film will be produced by Vipul Shah. This will be Akshay's second remake after <em>Rowdy Rathore</em>.
