I am my own competition: Producer Rashmi Sharma

MUMBAI: Producer Rashmi Sharma, the maker of well-known television shows such as Saath Nibhana Saathiya, Sasural Simar Ka, Swaragini, and many others, has gained immense appreciation for the kind of work she has done on TV.

The lady currently has three running shows: Musakaan on Star Bharat and Shakti and Roop on Colors. She is all set to roll out another new show, Vish Ya Amrit: Sitara.

The supernatural-based drama boasts of a stellar star cast including Adaa Khan, Shilpa Saklani, Sandeep Baswana, and Shakti Anand and is set to entertain the masses tonight.

Talking about the show and the brainstorming that they went through, Rashmi shared, ‘For a long time, I had been thinking of bringing a supernatural-based show on TV, and since this kind of genre is being well experimented with these days, we also thought to bring a show on those lines. A show on Vishkanya has never been experimented with on TV. And I believe these kinds of shows are exciting to watch, as they have the element of suspense, thrill, and drama.’

Since Rashmi has tried her hand at both daily soaps and fantasy-based ones, we asked her what is more difficult to make. She said, ‘I think there is no comparison, as both have their own uniqueness and limitations. What is common between both the genres is emotion and drama quotient. It requires equal amount of energy for any kind of show. Yes, the additional part one needs to take care of is costumes and graphics in these kinds of shows.’

With a lot of shows coming up with sequels, we asked Rashmi which show she would like to bring a season 2 of. She replied, ‘I haven’t thought about it yet, as I am focusing right now on Sitara and my other ongoing shows.’

With so many young talents coming in and producing shows, does she feel that there is a strong competition? ‘I think it is a very good thing, as even we have been in their shoes, and that is how we also took a leap in our career. It is always good to share healthy competition. And I consider myself as my own competitor. I keep challenging myself to better it each time.’

Along with doing professionally well, Rashmi is also enjoying motherhood. She has two baby boys. ‘It is very exciting to see them growing. Every day, I discover something new about them,’ she says.

All the best, Rashmi!
