Producer Manish Goswami

Manish Goswami is the man behind the success of Sidhant Cinevision. The versatile man started off his TV journey with popular TV show Parampara. He later produced many shows namely Kaisa Yeh Ishq Hai, Chashme Baddoor, Kittie Party, Kittu Sub Jaanti Hai, Aandhi, Aisa Des Hai Mera and the list goes on....

He is one of the leading producers who have brought about a change in the television arena by his out-of-the box thinking. He is also a member of the Producer Guild.

In an interview with Tellychakkar.com, Manish got chatty about his newly launched show Dil Deke Dekho, his journey in the industry, ratings and more.

What is unique about Dil Deke Dekho?

The show is about romance. Viewers can watch three different generations expressing love for their partners. I am sure the show will definitely bring smile on viewers’ faces.

Tell us something about your journey so far?

It’s been 23 years that I am part of this industry. It all started from my first show Parampara and then there was no looking back for me. My journey in the industry has been interesting. I have had my share of ups and downs.

Has television evolved over the years?

I have seen the change of time. TV shows then and now are very different. From writing style to budget to direction, everything has evolved. But yes, even if time moves ahead, content will still remain the king. Good shows might take time to pick up but they survive. Earlier there was freedom of creativity which has lost since few years now due to tough competition. Making a TV show is like giving birth to a child. The child should be nourished properly if you want a healthy kid. But at the end, it’s about ratings. TV is a completely rating driven market.

What do you think is the secret to a successful show?

It’s 50 percent casting and 50 percent writing. Casting and writing goes hand-in-hand. If your casting is perfect, half the battle is won. And later, keep viewers hooked with your writing.

There has been a boom of finite series recently, what’s your take on it?

Finite series are most welcome. Why not? It is refreshing and attracts masses. Finite series are the upcoming trend on TV.

The success of Parampara was massive; did you reason out why your other shows did not reach the level?

Parampara had a good run time because it was a daily while my other shows were weekly. Back in time, the era was about weekly; later the concept of daily was introduced.

One show that you are proud of?

I am proud of all my shows as they all have gained applauds from viewers.

You have worked with actors and not stars, was it your conscious decision?

Eventually it is the actors who can deliver. Stars might not be able to pull up the show but actors will easily do it. That’s the reason people prefer working more with theatre actors. They know their job well.

Any other upcoming project you are working on?

I am working on a new show but I can’t divulge more details now.

You have been associated with the Guild for a long time. How has organisations like it and CINTAA helped in the functioning of the industry and what are the next plans?

There is discipline that has come in force. Producers and actors know their responsibilities. Actors once sign a project, cannot think of violating the contract. Producer have also noticed a more peaceful and positive aura on the sets. Respect stays intact and payments are also made on time.

On personal note, how do you unwind yourself?

I am a happily married man blessed with a son. I am a very low profile man. My ideal time is always with my family. I make sure to plan a trip with my family at least once a year. I like to watch movies and plays, and avoid late night parties.
