When you are nice to people, they are nice to you - Casting Director Abhishek Gupta

Casting Director Abhishek Gupta
A young guy of only 20 years, Abhishek Gupta evokes a different sense of maturity and intelligence when compared to guys of his age. Having worked successfully with a lot of popular shows, Abhishek is currently casting for Yeh Hai Aashiqui on Bindass. Tellychakkar.com got into a candid conversation with Abhishek to know more about him, his journey, struggles and more... How did casting happen to you? I come from a small town from Madhya Pradesh. When I was studying, a lot of my friends came to Mumbai and were enjoying their time in the industry. That got me interested; hence I joined various production houses and started my career from the scratch. I was freelancing and working as an assistant and have done a lot many shows like Savitri by Flying Turtles, Laut Aao Trisha by 24 Frames, Ishq Kills by Rowdy Rascals, Emotional Attayachar, Singhasan Battisi by Creative Eye, and shows for Village Boy Productions. I am a very choosy person and only want to work with the best of production houses. Thankfully my senior Adityoa Suranna got me this project, and I am really glad to be working with Yeh Hai Aashiqui now. With you being so young, has it ever caused trouble? Not really! I am a very down to earth person and talk to everyone sweetly. Also I feel when you are nice to people, they will be nice to you. I am just 20 years old, and there is a long way to go for me. I have a good relation with everyone, for I feel that can only help you go ahead in your career and life. Casting for an episodic is said to be really difficult, how do you manage? I think it is rather a very exciting experience to find new faces for every episode. Finding the right choice for various characters is challenging and super fun. What is the most important requirement that you look for in an actor? Looks and talent are definitely the priority, but what is most important for me is that the actor should fit the bill of the character. If he can't do justice to the character, looks and talent fail! Do your friends bother you asking for roles? Never! Firstly I am very professional and will never stoop to partiality but yes, if a friend suits a role, I give them a call myself. Any difficulties that you have faced in the industry? Everyone has problems and issues, but one needs to understand it and then find solutions. I might have faced a lot of difficulties but I have never let it pull me down. And finally where do you see yourself five years down the line? I am currently enjoying the phase of casting, but would love to someday be a creative and also direct a show. But I am in no hurry and would achieve everything in its own pace. I am born for long races and will definitely fulfil all my dreams slowly and steadily. Good luck Abhishek!!!
