TV shows work for quite a number of reasons. Along with romance, comedy, and drama, there has to be some dhishoom dhishoom to spice up the daily lives of not just the show’s characters but also the viewers. And here comes the job of the vamps of TV, who gain immense popularity via their vivacious ominous portrayal of characters.
And Tellychakkar.com here presents the list of the Top Vamps of the Year (2013) who have impressed the audience with their mean acts. If not for them, there would be no fights and no tears, so all hail the vamps!!!

Amrit (Amrit Manthan) – She is pretty and young and has a wicked mind. Adaa Khan caught the attention of the industry with her outstanding performance as the princess who lost her power and richness leading her to quest for lost glory treading the wrong path. A Director’s Kut show on Life OK, Adaa won the Jury award in our in-house 12th Indian Telly Awards. The show brought the magnificent actor out of Adaa.
Bhatiyani Bai (Maharana Pratap) – Remember the old folk-tales of a step-mother who wants the worst for her step-child and even go to the extent of killing him/her so that her own child manages to get all the happiness in the world. The exact emotions are well portrayed by Aashka Goradia in this Contiloe Telefilms’ show. The historical saga on Sony TV has her playing the second wife to the King and thus she is never satisfied with anything her son gets and is jealous of the eldest Pratap and is always in the lookout to knock him off.
Bhayankar Pari (Baalveer) – The fairy tale SAB TV show has Shama Sikandar playing the evil pari, who is menacing and wild and always on the go to harm the other paris and the young children specially Baal Veer. This Optimystix show has a very inspiring story that however big the villain is, with perseverance and good deeds you can win over evil.
Charu (Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke) – The girl Aanchal Khurana is young and pretty but via her superb acting prowess she bagged an award in the negative category (popular) at the Indian Telly Awards. This Shakuntalam Productions’ show on Zee TV depicts the tale of teenagers and their troubles and Charu plays the perfect sweet yet smart chick who will go all the way to get what she wants.
Deepali/ Paboo (Madhubala) – The show even though is popular for RK and Madhubala’s love story, these two women are the source of all confusions and troubles in the couple’s life. Played by Seema Mishra (Deepali) and Seema Kapoor (Paboo), they are the epitome of vamps in TV, playing their part with utmost vengeance in this Colors’ show (Nautanki Telefilms).
Kamini (Meri Bhabhi) – This is one vamp who is villainous only for selfish reasons. Wanting well being and a good life for her children, Kamini is played by Sweta Gautam. She is a strong woman who is ready to face the entire world alone when it comes to getting the best for her offsprings in the DJ’s A Creative Unit show on Star Plus.
Ketki/Bharti (Sanskaar-Dharohar Apnon Ki) – One is a family member, the other a family friend, and together they have done everything to create trouble in the lives of the Vaishnav family in this Cinemantra show. Played by Divya Bhatnagar and Yashashri Masurkar and later Supriya Kumari, the two characters have stood out in the show with their want to destroy the family. With the former still around in this Colors’ show, let’s see what else she has up on her sleeves.
Khushi (Sasural Simar Ka) – She may be noted as the tiniest vamp in TV world. A petite figure, a sweet face, Jyotsna Chandola impressed one and all in this Rashmi Sharma Production that she can act and how. Her character was well sketched and had her turn grey to completely negative and then a moment of sweetness caused her character to have a happy end too. But no one will forget her evil acts in the Colors’ show.
Lahori Bua (Kaisa Yeh Ishq Hai) – You can imagine the type of anguish and hatred this woman has who spent most of her life in jail for killing her husband. Played by senior actor Mona Ambegaonkar in this Siddhant Cinevision product on Life OK, the woman has stood against her family and killed her father and niece to quench her thirst for revenge. She is scary and really wicked.
Razia/Tanveer (Qubool Hai) – This Muslim based family drama on Zee TV has made the characters household names today. And surprisingly the vamps on the show managed to create a niche for themselves, thanks to well written characters and powerful performances. Razia (Alka Kaushal) and Tanvir (Amrapali Gupta) have been doing a wonderful job as the menacing vamps creating havoc in the lives of everyone on this 4 Lions show.
Sanchi (Balika Vadhu) – A pampered child, her evilness is attached to her wanting to get whatever she wants and not finding anything wrong from even snatching it from someone. Roop Durgapal rose to fame with this Sphere Origin’s project on Colors which had her getting to showcase a varied range of emotions. Though her villainous chapter has ended for now, you never know, it may return in the future. A special mention of her drunken act which deserves appreciation.
Urmila (Saath Nibhana Saathiya) – The shrewd and wicked Indian woman has been popularized by this character for quite some time with her playing all kinds of tactics to create problems in her daughter in-law’s family. Played by Vandana Vithlani in this Rashmi Sharma Productions’ show in Star Plus, her perfect portrayal has made her a popular name among fans and industry folks.
Vishaka (Haunted Nights) – Another sweet and bubbly girl turned negative to give a remarkable performance. Yes, we are talking about Vrinda Dawda who used all her black magic acts to get the love of her life in Sahara One’s show Haunted Nights (Entertainment Hub). The girl even with such a dark character looked stunning and her fans loved her horrifying avatar.
