5 Outfits we want Akbar to don

Outfits we want Akbar to don

Bejeweled sherwani-phetas and rich fabrics may give Akbar his statuesque appearance and majestic looks, but we are getting a tad tired of the monotonous clothes. So we have put together a list of five exciting outfits that Akbar (Rajat Tokas) must don in Zee TV’s Jodha Akbar. Take a look:

Bandhgala in English colours:

Wearing Bandhgala in oriental and rich colours is nothing different for Akbar. But wearing the traditional outfit in chic English colours will definitely add a touch of glamour. It will make for an interesting watch for the viewers too as we are tired of the rich-meets-bling collection on display on the show. Also, English colours are soft, serene and visually soothing. When Jodha gets to wear all the latest outfits, why shouldn't her husband have fun too?

Kurta and Pyjama with an ornate waistcoat:

It's one of the best combinations a man can opt for. And if he happens to be royal, it's even more epic, eh? Akbar should wear a plain kurta and pyjama with an ornate waistcoat that lives up to his heritage. He can sport a local Rajasthani variety or go as far as a Lucknowi one too! The focus should be on the waistcoat and not on his kurta-pyjama. Can the stately Akbar carry this off? You bet he can.

Plain silk kurtas and coloured pyjamas:

Whenever the king is in a fun mood, he can sport this casual, yet sexy outfit. Coloured pyjamas when paired with plain silk kurtas make for a stunning combo. He can even coordinate the colour of his pyjamas with the lehengas of Jodha for a more well turned-outlook. In fact, his pheta or head gear can also be coordinated with the pyjamas. That would add a bit of lustrous edge to his otherwise predictable outfits. What say, people?

Kurta-Sherwani with Dhoti pants:

Considering his love for the predominantly Hindu land he rules, wearing a touch of their tradition will go a long way in forging relationships. He should throw in a pair of dhoti pants to go with his kurta-sherwani for the perfect Indo-Mughal look. Dhoti pants are also one of the hottest fashion trends for men right now...think of his Hindu princess Jodha, how happy would she be when she sees Akbar in a this multi-cultural avatar! That's the least he can do for his beloved, right?

Tuxedo:

It's this attire that has had women swooning over men for decades. The solid coloured, well cut piece of clothing can definitely make us women go weak in the knees. Perhaps that's why Akbar should experiment with this outfit. He should start with the blacks, browns and greys, before graduating to the burgundys, maroons and greens! Technically, the look may be English, but it can certainly look majestic on the Mughal king.
