Are comedies the new flavour?

<b>Varun Badola-</b> I don't think it is a time for change but the fact remains
that the kind of stuff TV is into, something more suited to the audiences of the
'40s and '50s the others will tend to look at some other genre. Our current shows
are regressive. Such shows cannot bring any growth in society. The dialogues and
situations are regressive and so it is obvious people will shift to comedy. If
I were to shoot all day for a show and then go back home, I would prefer a lighthearted
show rather than serious drama.

Recently, two most awaited shows Papad Pol on SAB TV and Rajan Shahi’s Chand Chupa Badal Mein were launched. As Papad Pol managed to outdo Chand Chupa in numbers (as per the recent ratings), it got us wondering. We asked members from the TV fraternity if they thought that viewers were beginning to incline towards comedy…
