We know the heading is wrong. Because it should ideally have been ‘actors who can ATTEMPT to play Big B’s iconic roles’, isn’t it? The legend of Bollywood is a mad bundle of energy even when he is pushing past 70 and not everybody can do what he's doing.
As Amitabh Bachchan turns a year older today, we take a look at TV stars who can play his epic roles on the big screens.
Sholay (Shaheer Sheikh)
Considering that he played the legendary role of Arjun in Mahabharata, we can safely assume that he can recreate the magic of Jai from Sholay with ease. He has the booming baritone, the statuesque poise and of course, the effortless charm. All those who want to see him play Bachchan from Sholay, raise your hands!
Hum (Ronit Roy)
If you’re called the Amitabh Bachchan of the small screen, there’s a reason for it, right? It’s the voice, the deathly intense stare and the staggering personality that make Ronit Roy an obvious choice for Hum. We would love to see him gyrate to the ‘Jumma’ song, no?
Agneepath (Karan Patel)
The angry young man of TV can definitely fit into the shoes of the original angry young man of Agneepath. Karan’s intense looks and powerful acting can open up exciting new avenues with this role. Patel might favour SRK, but it’s Bachchan’s epic role that will suit him the best.
Abhimaan( Shakti Arora)
We just can’t think of any other actor to slip into the arrogant, egoistic and insecure singer of Abhimaan than Shakti. Only because he can play this role with a natural ease, thanks to earlier outings on TV. Wonder who would do the playback for this musical reboot?
Coolie (Parth Samthaan)
Parth is young, dynamic and blessed with a good personality. We are sure that he can learn the local lingo of coolies and perfect his action skills to play the Big B of Coolie. We don’t want to overwhelm the youngster with such a dashing role, but a boy’s gotta learn…isn’t it?
Silsila (Karan Singh Grover)
The playboy of TV will be able to do justice to this Yash Raj classic that saw Big B with his wife Jaya and alleged girlfriend Rekha in a love-triangle. Knowing KSG’s colourful past, he can breeze through this role. What say, guys?
Khuda Gawah (Karan Kundra)
This ultimate romance drama, peppered with fights, melodrama and gorgeous songs can be recreated only by TV’s original romantic hero, Karan Kundra. We are already excited to see him in grand costumes and majestic head gears. What about you all?
Deewar (Mohit Malik)
Deewar was the turning point in Big B’s career whose banters with Shashi Kapoor made him a star to watch out for. We are hoping that it applies to Mohit Malik as well… with his charismatic presence and strong dialogue delivery, he can totally ace this role. What say, fans?
Shahenshah (Gurmeet Choudhary)
When you are blessed with a personality like that of Gurmeet, half your battle is already won. All he needs to do is perfect Bachchan’s style of dialogue-baazi to make a lasting impression on us. It’s a role that can either break or make a hero. Which side will he fall under?
Don (Vivian Dsena)
Well, who better than Vivian to play Big B’s suave and stylish Don? He has the looks, the bad boy looks, coupled with oodles of attitude to pull off Don’s magnetic character. He might have to work a tad bit on Don’s lookalike’s character, but Vivian can play that with ease as well.
Happy birthday, Big B!
