Bong actors and their Durga Puja plans

Durga Puja in Bengal is celebrated with much pomp and grandeur. It is one of the occasions for which Bengalis wait for the whole year and start knitting celebration plans in advance and actors are no different.

So, Tellychakkar.com caught up with some of the Bengali actors to know their puja plans. Read on.

Ankita Majumder: I have lots of plans for Durga Puja. On Chaturthi, minister Arup Biswas and I opened our club’s pujo (Pallishree club). I will also be opening pujas in Howrah, Madhyamgram and Barrackpore. On Panchami, I have plans with my family and on Ashtami, I have invited my friends to offer anajali (offering to the Goddess Durga) at our club. I also have plans to watch some of the puja releases like Zulfiqar, Byomkesh O Chiriakhana and Abhimaan. So, my puja plan comprises of openings, pandal hopping, movies, street food and adda.

Raj Bhattacharyya: I will remain busy with shooting till Shashthi. On Saptami, I will have an adda session with my friends, Ashtami is all about anajali and on Nabami I will head to Himachal Pradesh. It’s a family trip for 10 days.

Jasmine Roy: I will enjoy a lot during Durga Puja. But I won’t be able to stand in the queue to have glimpses of the Goddess at different pandals as I am scared of the long queue. I will hang out with my buddies and break rules and relish Biryani. I just love Biryani.

Siddhartha Banerjee: Our work keeps us so busy the entire year that Pujo seems to be a great relief to us. And for every Bengali, Durga Pujo is the big occasion. My foremost plan is to catch the Puja releases. Anjan Dutt’s Byomkesh O Chiriakhana, where I have acted, is also releasing during the occasion so, I am very excited. Apart from this, Pujo means adda with family and friends, food and pandal hopping.

Ishaa M Saha: To me, Pujo means lots of adda and food. I don’t go for pandal hopping as I don’t like crowd… the pujo of my para (neighborhood) is zindabad. So, I will have adda sessions with my friends and will gorge on all the delicious food. But yes, I would love to see the Durga Pujo of ‘Bonedi’ families (Zamindar's House).

Rajib Basu: I eagerly wait for the entire year for these five days. These five days make me feel proud about being a Bengali. If I am born again I would like to born as a Bengali just because of these five days. My sister and brother-in-law come down to Kolkata to spend the pujas with us. So, it’s all about full on adda with family and friends. The thing I do the most during this time is observe beautiful girls. Bengali girls look beautiful throughout the year…this is universal truth. But at the time of Durga Puja, they become more beautiful. So, I too join others to have their darshan (winks).

Happy Puja guys!
