Hot Trends on TV We Would Love To See

Television is a medium that evolves almost on a daily basis. Because of the high demand of daily content and increasing TRPs, makers have to come up with shows and concepts that can keep us hooked on for a long time. We take a look at the hot tenets that we would love to see on the small screen.

Male-Centric Shows:

Yes, why not? Aren't you tired of the female-centric soaps that are regressive and irrelevant to the society we live in. There have been attempts at pulling off shows that show men in limelight but they are mostly related to action or investigative shows. Why can't men be portrayed in everyday roles? Jamai Raja was a decent attempt, but we want more such interesting shows.

Sensitive Issues:

It's 2015, for crying out loud! Let there be more shows about gays, lesbians and the third gender. Let people understand that these are actual, relevant topics because the society needs our support and encouragement. Why not have a gay lead whose life goes through many a twists and turns, thanks to our outlook and homophobic nature?

Travel and Lifestyle:

Travel shows need not only be about exploring new lands. It can be about the people and the culture, more than just randomly travelling to the places. These lifestyle shows will draw more eyeballs than soaps that go on forever and ever. Sigh.

Episodic Shows:

Look at our western counterparts, they have episodics that make for interesting and enjoyable viewing. From medical dramas to relationship sitcoms to detective stories, their shelf-life is just one episode with a main theme running though series. Makes more sense, eh?

Reality Shows:

There's a reason why reality-based shows are always a hit with the masses.
Because they offer something new and interesting in every episode. Unlike the soaps, reality shows are more impressive and inspiring. Let's hope that there's more of it this year!
