In the past, reality shows have ruled the roost when it comes to TRPs. They were giving the soaps a real run for their money and also set a record in terms of popularity, mass appeal and profitability. And the only reason cited behind this success was their brush with reality and the fact that everything – the emotions, the contest, the audience response – was real. What you saw was what it was.

That was then but the picture is quite different now with most reality shows becoming monotonous in nature. Their TRPs have come crashing down with even the biggest shows taking a royal beating. Ironically, the reality shows that appeared real then are now beginning to look like a farce.
The truth is that a reality show also has the same grease paint applied to its face and body to make it look beautiful under the arc lights and in front of the camera. Just like our soaps. Tellychakkar peeks into the unreal world of reality shows.
