People boycotted the show, and the ratings dropped drastically. However, the makers didn’t give up and cashed in on Kartik (Mohsin Khan) and Naira’s (Shivangi Joshi) track. Although it took a little time, they managed to hit the right chord.

Kartik and Naira’s on-screen chemistry: Kartik and Naira’s bond is shown beautifully on the show. Fans combined their favourite characters’ names as KaIra. Any couple can relate to their love story. Although a few dream sequences were a bit much, the love track of KaIra (how Naira went through ups and downs in her life to get Kartik) is endearing.

Youth Connect: The journey of Naira, who hated Kartik the most, falling in love with him was nicely showcased by the makers. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai was always popular with the family audience and but lacked the youth connect. But their love story resonated with youngsters too. This was a plus point for the makers.
