The legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan made his debut in the world of TV fiction yesterday (14 July) with the show Yudh on Sony Entertainment Television. The superstar has films like Deewar, Sholay, Shahenshah, Paa, Agneepath, Sarkar and a lot many other super duper hits under his belt. These films apart from raking profits for filmmakers also inspired many youngsters who aped the ‘angry young man’s’ personality and his signature baritone. Everyone at some point of time in life has looked at the mirror and mimicked Shahenshah’s larger than life characters on celluloid. Be it the “Rishtey mein to hum tumhare mein baap lagte hain”, or “ Main Aaj Bhi Feke Hue Paise Nahi Uthata”, to “Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahin, na mumkin hai”, we all love Bachchan and his inimitable style of acting and dialogue delivery. In a tribute of sorts, we asked TV’s hot male actors on which Amitabh Bachchan (movie) avatar they think they are. Let’s have a look. Shaheer Sheikh- His roles in Cheeni Kum or Khuda Gawah. I don’t really know the reason, but may be because I am mad and crazy like these characters. Nikkhil Chaddha- Vijay from Deewar. The character was focused, passionate and had a maddening streak to be successful. And the most important thing is that he was a self made man. Aanshul Trivedi- Vijay from Trishul. I love how Bachchan sir could tame the inner angst of the character and then the iconic portrayal of his role which made it truly legendary. Sehban Azim- Deewar, Agneepath and Khuda Gawah. And the reason can be stated through these dialogues- “Main aaj bhi phenkey huye paise nhi uthata”, “Kehne ko yeh shehar hai, sirf kehne ko…par idhar jungle ka kanoon chalta hai” “…Mohabbat ke liye, Kabul ka yeh pathan sar zameene Hindustan se mohabbat ka khair maang-ne aaya hai. Aazmaiysh kadi hai, imtihaan mushkil, lekin hausla bulund hai. Jeet hamesha mohabbat ka hua hai, sadiyon se yahi hota aaya hai, yahi hoga. Khuda gawah hai”. Param Singh- Jai from Sholay. He was funny, yaaron ka yaar, tough from inside yet a soft person from heart. His silence spoke a million words. Zohaib Siddiqui- Vijay Deenanath Chauhan (Agneepath) any day. The name is enough for my reasons, but I also believe in one of the dialogues he had said in the film- “Main apne maalik ka purana wafadur hu. Jo leta hu soot saamet wapis karta hu.” Ayaz Ahmed- Ravi from Satte Pe Satte. I am the eldest in my family and have always been the responsible son. During occasions and events, I am always looked up to handle all duties and also look over the entertainment part (smiles). Also like him I can go all the way to bring happiness in my loved ones’ life. Although I don’t have six brothers, I do have cousins, and here too, I try helping my roommates in every way I can. Shaleen Malhotra- Vijay Deenanath Chauhan from Agneepath. Like Robin Hood, he was also a true family man. He was loved and trusted and although he had a strong face for the world, he had a soft heart and was extremely loving towards his family. Also the vengeance and strength he had in the film was amazing. Karanvir Bohra- His triple role from the movie Mahaan (Amit, Guru and Shankar). I find Amitabh to be a very passionate and at the same time comic. He can carry any role with panache. His eyes speak a thousand words, he doesn’t need any dialogues. And in Mahaan he has proved it by playing a father’s role, a serious cop and a funny character. Aamir Dalvi- Vijay from Deewar. The angry young man with a lot inside him. Similarly there is so much in me that want to explode on the screen yet no one is there to tap these resources of mine (winks). Vikas Manaktala- Jai from Sholay. I connect to him for various reasons. He was a friend of friends, a man of few words, straight faced yet humorous. The way he took Veeru’s proposal for marriage is my fav scene. Also the silent and intense lover part goes with my image too (winks). Aadesh Chaudhary- Vijay Deenanath Chauhan from Agneepath. My friends tell me that I have a personality similar to him. As for the character, I too deal with problems in my life in the same way he did in the film.
